When Kara first contacted me about doing her engagement pictures with a baseball theme I was excited, but when I actually met Kara & Ronnie at the JU field, I was stoked! They are truly the "All American" couple (sorry Ronnie, lol). They met during their four years at UF and are both currently in graduate school studying to be a lawyer & a doctor. We brought out their personalities on and off the field. I had a great time capturing their connection. K&R-congrats! You are both so fun & I can't wait to see what amazing things you are going to bring to the world after grad school!

Some days I walk around in disbelief of how amazing my couples are. Kristin & Jason are no exception. I love it when I can photograph a couple and without giving them direction, they know exactly what to do in front of the camera. Kristin & Jason is not only a hot couple, but they give their lives to help others get well.
For their E-session, Kristin & Jason were up for anything. I was able to find some unique locations that were rundown, which they loved. Since their wedding is a wine them, we decide to bring that into the E-session. We had a great time and I cannot wait until the wedding day in October. Until then, enjoy some of my favorites from their session.

Back in action

Well, we were officially back to work last week and since we got back to Jax it's been non-stop! I have fallen WAY behind on my blogging and my face book posts are almost non-existent, but that changes today. So keep checking the blog over the next week for new weddings, maternity sessions, new promotions and other exciting news.

We had an incredible, relaxing two weeks off. For those of you that do not know, my entire family is from Louisiana and I am the only one that lives out of the state. It's hard being away from them and missing all the things some people some people might take for granted everyday. It's always so nice to go home to visit with my family and just enjoy the simple things in life. My parents have some amazing acreage with the huge overstocked pond, fields of wildflowers, a garden full of fresh vegetables, and every type of fruit tree you can imagine. I think my three favorite things to do when I go home is sit on the swing with mom while she drinks her coffee, going through moms green house as she tells me what all of the plants are, and messing around in my dad's shop, asking him a million questions about tools while he is trying to build whatever his new project is. Every time I go home my dad is always building something new and my mom always has a new flower bed.

Believe it or not I actually only picked up my camera once while I was at home. So since no post is complete without photos, here are my favorite things about home....

Home sweet Home...

Something that makes me remember how great my childhood was... Riding on my dad's old tractor (which was new then, haha)

Just a few of the great things growing while we were home.... (Side note: Last time we were home, Reilly helped my dad plant watermelons, a few months later my dad called and asked him for his secret because he had over 80 watermelons growing at once. City boys can plant gardens too!)

And a few things that make me smile... four out of the nine neices and nephews that I have and our newest edition to the family, our guard doggie Dixie.

Can't wait to go back and do it all over again! For the fam that reads my blog, I miss you & I will see you again soon.

Joann & Christian's happy day was full of Food, Fun, and most important Family & Friends. We spent all day capturing the emotional memories of their first look, their joyful ceremony and some of the most loving speeches that I have ever heard. Joann & Christian are fortune enough to be surrounded by people that know how amazing they are. We absolutely love it when our brides/grooms are more friends than clients. Joann & Christian are definitely added to our friend category!

The venue that J&C choose Palm Valley Garden's is unique with rich details that made it easy to capture.

All of the details that Joann & Christian put into their wedding really made the day special. It was really hard to choose my favorites, so here are a few of them....

The happy couple decided to calm their nerves with a "First Look" before the ceremony and we were able to get some amazing pictures, so many that it was hard to choose which ones to show.

Joann surprised Christian with a caricature artist. Mr. D did a full caricature of their little family and then was able to entertain the guest all night with portraits. It was an added bonus to a great night.

Joann & Christian: The Beginning

When I first met Joann last year at our first meeting about her wedding photography, I knew right away she was going to be not only a wonderful bride but a friend. She is an amazingly talented business owner of two small companies that she created: Good Wishes Greeting Cards and her newest adventure Grandma Dee's (nuts & assorted goodies). Then I was able to meet Christian, and he had me at "I graduated from LSU." When Christian found out I was as big of a LSU fan as him, he was sold! I just can't say enough good things about these two. They are both two of the sweetest, most genuine people that I have met. I am so grateful that they choose me to capture their memories.
Since most of their families are from Chicago, Orlando, New Orleans and a few other places, they were able to have 3 days of fun (and let me tell you, this bunch knows how to party). Beginning with the Bachelor/Bachelorette drinks at Casa Marina and then the Rehearsal Dinner at Palm Valley Gardens. To start it all off, here are some of the party pictures from the two nights. Today my sweetie and other half turns the big 29! Where do I begin?! I guess at the beginning... I little (long) story of us...

So about 7 years ago now I worked at this little desk job over off Beach and had been there for about six months when I first saw him. I had just gone through a bad breakup and so did he (although I didn't know it at the time.)
He had been working there several months before I started and I had just taken off my blinders and saw him walking the halls for the first time. Back then, he was going through his "Abercrombie" stage, as we call it. He was beyond HOT! A friend in a nearby cubicle was friends with him and had a picture up at her desk of this super hot guy. After asking who the hot guy in the picture was, she proceeded to point out the guy I had been drooling over in the halls every day.
Several weeks go by of me stalking him at the coke machine, when the company rearranged our department seating and now every day I had to walk right past his desk to get to mine. Several more weeks go by (of me now, staring at him every time I walked by) when I finally got up the courage to actually "talk" to him! Imagine that, talking to him... I was out of practice of the flirting stage of a relationship and scared to death that he would just think I was crazy. So I had to come up with something clever to get his attention, right?! So on his desk was a little replica of a motocross bike.
So me, watching supercross growing up, thought I would be slick... So I went online got a picture of a guy doing a heel clicker and emailed it to him with a caption "can you do this mr motocross?" He emails me back a few minutes later and to my surprise his answer, "yes and some other tricks too".
OMG, I was in heaven, he is hot and he rides. My, my.... And so began the email flirting and the meeting at the copier (on accident of course).
Long story short, after several months of flirting, we finally went on our first unofficial date and met at a concert, then finally after many more months, end up calling ourselves "dating."

After officially dating now for 6 years I couldn't be happier with my decision to take the step to make the first move. My life has changed in so many ways in the last 7 years because of him. I can honestly say I would not be in the same place in my life or career without him. He has nothing but encourage me to follow my dream, continue my education, challenge myself and believe in who I am. I have never woken up every morning knowing that I am where I should be and who I should be more than I do now. He amazes me still and I only fall more in love with him every day. I tell him every chance I can how much he means to me. I am lucky to have such an amazing person by my side loving me almost as much as I love him, haha (inside joke).
Reilly, Thank you for everything you have given me! I am truly blessed to have you. I know that my life can only get better and better with you in it. I love you more than you know!! Happy Birthday Sweetie!!!

Tasha & Fintan are part of my extended family here in Jax. I have know Tash since meeting my best friend Steph (Tash's little sis) over 8yrs ago now. Their whole family is amazing and I am just lucky to be a part of Tash & Fin's backyard ceremony. The first talk of wedding plans came after we all got back from our Vegas trip in October... it went from eloping to a non traditional backyard ceremony for 10, which eventually grew to a small ceremony for 70! It was simple, elegant and wonderfully put together by their families. Fintan's family is from Ireland and really know how to throw a great party. Here are a few of my favorites from that day...

The wedding was very everything that they wanted it to be, no dj/band, no bridesmaids, no garter or anything else just plain and simple love shared with their closest family and friends in a beautiful moment... and that is all they needed. Fintan's dad did do a little Irish singing to start the ceremony.

I am back from a month long vacation and have lots to ketch up on. First, a recent model session with the beautifully, wonderful and fun spirited life of the party, Dallas! We headed up towards Mayport for a day of fun. It was the windiest day I have seen in some time, but the wind did a great job tossling her hair for us. She did such a great job it was hard to pick which ones to show you.

This weekend I got the chance to photograph the E-session for my "one day" brother-in-law & his beautiful bride to be Sarah. I say "one day" because once my BF Reilly proposes to me, then we will all be family. No this is not a hit! Lol... I have known Robbie since before Sarah came along and "straightened" him out. He is a wonderful father, a kick ass skater and an overall great little brother. I knew Sarah was the one for Robbie when she came along because when Rob is being himself (goofy), she just laughs. I would have to say that she is the best thing that could have ever happend to Rob & his little girl(and Me, I love her like a sis!). Although, I am still a little mad that he proposed to her when we were in Louisiana last year, I can't wait for wedding in Febuary!

So with all that said... We finally got the chance to take a few hours and head up to Kona Skatepark for their engagement session. Here are some of my favs from the day.

I have known Katie for about 5 or 6 years now. She is one of the most kind hearted and happy people I know. I was so excited when she called and asked me to be her photographer. Katie, Tim & I met at The World Golf Village for a fun day but we ended up with a morning of rain. When Dessiree called me about doing family photos for her the day after Thanksgiving when her whole family would be in town, I did not realize how much fun I would have. Dessiree truely has an amazing family. Her two sisters, her father & all of their cutie kiddos traveled from Baltimore & Chicago to come to Jax to see her. I met up with Mackenzie & Duncan in San Marco this past weekend to take some fun Christmas pictures. I have know these two as a couple since they started dating, but I never realized how silly & fun they are together. We had a great time playing with oranged and laughing. They are truely a perfect match... and who knows, maybe one day I will be shooting their wedding one day!

I have been a very bad blogger this past month. Now that my best friends wedding, Vegas, computer problems & my sickness (well, almost) are behind me I am trying to get caught back up.

First Dillon's Senior Session from last month. Dillon is the winner of my Senior Contest from a few months back. His amazing personality and talents were highlighted in emails from his loving family. Dillon is an really great kid and will soon be graduating and will make a place in the world for himself. I am not sure well he will be, but he will make a differnce!

I have known Katie since the very first day I moved to Jacksonville back in 2000 and we have been friends every since. Jax Shoot Club

This week I had the opportunity to shoot along side of 80 other photographers with the Jax Shoot Club. We met in Riverside and were able to shoot with four amazing models for a couple of hours. Even though I think I did more talking than shooting I was able to get some amazing pics. It was really great to shoot with everyone and get their take on the same model and location. I can't wait for next month.

PUG Night Shoot

PUG Night for September was in St. Augustine. We all met up at Harry's Seafood (my Fav!) for some dinner and great photo conversation before hitting the streets with Scarlett for some awesome night shooting with our model Cam & her fabulous man, Eric. Cam did an amazing job model with no direction. We had a great time and I was able to get some fun photos for my collection. Here are a few of my favorites! Hope you enjoy.

Baby Grace

Little Grace and me go way back.... to when she was in the womb for her mom's maternity pictures. I have shot so many pictures of her family it's hard to remember them all. It was finally great to actually get to meet her. This little angel born 9/9/09 was 7lbs & 6oz @ 19 1/2 inches long. She is was just 10 days old when we shot these pictures and oh so cute!! I can't wait to shoot some more for her very soon.

N + K: Nora & Kelly's E-Session

When I first met up with Nora & Kelly several months ago, I knew instantly that they would be an amazing couple to take pictures of. Nora is just beautiful and Kelly is quite charming, and little Shea is just the sweetest thing, so when we got together last weekened for their E-Session I was estatic. They were both so easy to work with I didn't have to give them hardly any direction. I just love it when couples know what to do! These two definetly rocked it. I can't wait for their June wedding at One Ocean. Here is a sneak peak of their E-session to hold you over until then....

Just Married: Summer & Eric

I have known Summer & Eric for a few years now. When Summer asked me to shoot their special day I was thrilled. They are just the All-American couple that everyone adores. Summer is just the sweetest person, gorgeous and Eric is just a funny guy that always tell great stories. It was great to finally get a chance to see them celebrate their love. Even though it was raining from begining to end, that did not stop Summer from smiling all day. The wedding was simple, elegant and beautiful. First, I want to say Thank YOU! to all of you who took the time to enter the contest. There were so many wonderful entries of Seniors that will soon graduate and go into our world to make a difference. Some of you made me laugh & some of you made me cry, it was a great contest and I can't wait for next year. It was not an easy process in choosing the winner but a decision had to be made.

Meet Dillon... in the eyes of his mom, dad & other friends & family. This straight from the email I received from his mom for nomination and the reason that Dillon won the contest.

"You want to know why he is amazing. That is such a big question. He is loving and caring. He has a heart of gold and shares it with everyone blessed enough to know him. He is an amazing friend to all that knows him. He takes it personal when his family or friends are hurting and wants to do something to help. He is an individual that doesn't care what other people think, he does what is right because its right not because its popular! He takes that a step further and encourages his friends to do the same. He has a very deep love for God and also shares that with his friends. From the day he was born he has been my heart and strength.

He plays Lacrosse for his high school, and has also been known to enjoy skateboarding, surfing, fishing, karaoke, and is often the clown of most situations, not to be disrespectful but to make life in general more fun! He also has a quiet love for writing poems, raps and songs, writing his thoughts in general."

Kaitlin: New Trend

So who says that you have to wait to Senior year to go all out for a great photo session... So Kaitlin & I got together to start a new trend of Freshman Pictures! Kaitlin is not a flahy girlie girl but just a sporty freshman at a new school. We kinda thought of this session as the begining of her time capsual. She can pull this back up 4 years from now and see how far she has come, how her answers have changed in that time, and has she has grown as a person. During our session I got to know her a little better with a game of 20 questions and here is what we came up with...
